All it takes to fix this problem is to make passing an audit a priority. Government workers at "all" levels should question their boss and say that passing an audit is important. You may think you are small, but you are really very powerful. Stand up and say, "I don't like working for an organization that can't even balance its books." It is bad for morale. Like a fish swimming upstream, it took a long time to find out the source of the problem. If you are a reporter, this is "peeling the onion" and finding the "tip of an iceberg." First, it was researching our story concerning the National Guard, which led to the GSA, then DFAS, then the SBA, and finally the US Treasury. The US Treasury initially did not want to reveal the evidence. Treasury used the statement, " This is private information, AND WE CANNOT DISCLOSE THIS INFORMATION, to protect you." THIS WAS ALLEGEDLY DONE AS A MEANS OF ATTEMPTING TO HIDE EVIDENCE OF WRONGDOING. When we were not paid, we connected the dots. We realized the TSA and all Federal Workers and contractors are in the same boat. All streams led to the US Treasury. As we know, without financial controls, crooks take hundreds of millions of dollars. Just embrace the simple fact that embezzlement occurs under the "10-80-10 accounting rule". (Google it.) Only then does it become apparent that embezzlement exists and why hundreds of millions are left unaccounted. This is Money that otherwise could be used to pay wages. For those who read this who are fellow government employees and contractors, we can band together. Step 1 is to talk it up. Send people to this web page. Let's get the web hit count high. Then, in Step 2, focus on the US Treasury and DoD by enforcing the law requiring audits. Passing audits is easy when an entity wants to. America doesn't trust the federal government. many federal laws address accounting, and audits are straight forward. does someone at the us treasury not want legally required audits to be passed?
